These are brand new Adaptors, that work exactly as the factory adaptors that they are intended to replace.
The important points when choosing an adaptor are it's Voltage and Amperage ratings and the type of outlet plug attached to it. There are dozens of styles of pins and plugs used on adapters, and you must match the socket in the device you want to power. If you can not find an adaptor model number that matches, then matching the electrical ratings can be your next option. If your old adaptor failed and you still have it, then you could put it's output cord on a new adaptor. The plugs can often be changed quite easily, but careful attention must be paid to match the polarity of the connections.
These adapters convert the Alternating Current that comes from your wall outlets into Direct Current that batteries can store.
You must always use an adaptor with a higher voltage rating than your battery nominal voltage and a higher amperage rating than the device it needs to power. An example follows; If you have a laptop computer with a 16 volt battery, then you would use an adapter that puts out a couple volts greater, perhaps 18-19 volts DC. This is to cause a flow into the battery, higher voltage to lower voltage.
Don't exceed 3-4 volts above the rated battery voltage unless you know exactly what you are doing. The extra voltage could cause damaging heat. In addition, if your laptop, when loaded to it's maximum with accessories, consumes 3500mA (3.5A), then your adaptor must be rated at least that high. An adapter with a greater amperage capacity is OK, but not a lower capacity as that would overload the weaker adapter and cause it to have a shorter life. Measuring the voltage coming from an adaptor when it is not powering a circuit is misleading, and will normally read very high. But it should measure equal to the adaptors rated voltage when it is loaded at it's rated amperage.
Sale includes one new adaptor with AC input and DC output cords. |
